I am a Lao-Canadian living in Tokyo! I moved to Japan about 8 months ago from Toronto, Canada. I lived in Hiroshima and just moved to Tokyo about three weeks ago. I am working as an English teacher at 4 elementary schools in Arakawa-ku. It's a lot of fun! Anyway, I was just curious to see if there were many Lao people in Tokyo. When I walk around Tokyo I sometimes hear Thai people, but not any Lao. So, if anyone lives in Tokyo and wants to hang out let me know!
There are many Lao students and Lao people living in Tokyo and near by. Last year I joined the Lao new year party at the Lao embassy in Tokyo and there were more than 400 Lao people joined the event. Each year, there are many events organized by Lao people, such as lao new year festival, bowling compitition, annal Lao festival, etc... do check out our website for the latest news and information.
I just found this website a few days ago so I missed the Lao New Year party that was at the Lao embassy in Tokyo , maybe next year though! Wow, I can't believe there were more than 400 Lao people at the party last year! That's awesome!
I will definitely check the website for updates on events!
