I think there are a lot of students who need LESC IV to fulfil their thesis writing. It would be very useful if anyone can help optain and post it here.
LECS IV (Lao Expenditure and Consumption Survey) is avaible at NSC office (National Statistic Center) or you can contact them by email disclosed data set being sole at the rate 500 kip per Kb, the discount rate would be apply for all students. if you want hard copy, visit their office.
I would love to help if I have one, unfortunately from DOS's website (of MPI), they only list LEC III. May you can contact them through their website at http://www.nsc.gov.la/Products.htm. By the way, what is ur thesis about? sound interesting if use LECs data and hope that you can run any regression from LECs data. Good luck
I am writing thesis on rural poverty and education. I have LECS III (2002/03) but I need LECS IV. National Statistics Center only provides some old information which is sometime useless since we can find it everywhere.
I am in Japan and I feel uncomfortable to go back home to just collect LECS IV. Thank you for your suggestions, I will try to mail them and see if it is available.
Great to know that you doing about poverty and education. please contact sis Bounmy at Embassy, her study at Kobe university was also about education. You may have extra information for your literature review. I am sure she can help you at least with her study though not the LEC IV. I will see if I know could get anyone help for your data. Anyway, are you doing Master or PhD? and are using any regression analysis? I would love to help if I can anyway good luck and all the best.
Hi, I am doing master degree. I utiltize secondary data from Population Census and several reports from Ministry of Education and World Bank. It is qualitive research. I am not really specialized in doing research. This is my first one.
It is nice that there are a lot of good friends want to help me, including you. By the way, How to contact her?
Please call to embassy and ask for Sis Bounmy. she is very helpful person. if i find any thing new about education and poverty data will keep you post. when is your deadline of thesis submission?
Hi, it is me again. I think you can utilize some information from http://www.rtm.org.la/ for report of Round Table meeting and I am sure that you are using NPEP, but if not, please search on NPEP Lao and you will find interesting information. Enjoy!
Nice to know you and do your best for your thesis. Once you done, please send me an abstract as I would like to update it to laoresearchonline@gmail.com you can check the blog that i am gathering all research related to Laos and by Lao researchers. here is the blog www.laoresearchonline.blogspot.com
extra contact you should email to is NERI (National Economic Reseach Institute, Laos) and here is the link of their information, or http://www.microfinancelaopdr.org/en/neri.cfm and they have email there, maybe you can email and ask for data you need for your thesis, like education indicator and education data. It will be nice if you ask for Mr Siviengxai, he is nice person.
You can always email me to the blog up there. please call me Aya.
it is my pleasure to know you and I get useful information to fulfil my research. I am not sure if you refered to NPEP. I think NPEP is replaced by NGPES. By the way, as soon as my research is done, I will post it here. I am sure some people may find it interesting, while others may feel different as I mainly use secondary data which a friend of mine in Ministry of Education helps me gathering all information he could.
I tried to contact NSC to get LECS IV by mail, but there is still no response. I think something need to be done with the way they provide information for researchers. Lots of people are complaining about this issue. Thank you very much for help.

I understand this. when we were in Laos in 2007, a friend of mine requested for some data. A guy provided him just if he paid US100. Soon after that he found out that the information provided was also online. I dont know if data has certain cost. I mailed them not trying to urge them to send me online. I asked if it is done and I will ask a friend of mine to request for it because he also wants it. Any way, that is not the case. I will try my best without LECS IV.
